Transatlantic Dialogues: Presentation of Projects
an International Collaboration between
Saarland University, University of Vienna and Bradley University
Project Presentation by Prof. Dr. Astrid M. Fellner (UdS)/Klaus Heissenberger (Vienna)/Prof. Dr. Tim Conley (BU) and students from Saarland University
Monday, November 8, 2010
5 p.m.
Schlosskeller, Saarbrücken
Transatlantic Dialogues (TAD) brings together students and faculty from 3 different universities (Saarland University, Bradley University, and the University of Vienna) to explore American Studies topics from a Cultural Studies perspective, making use of e?learning and team?teaching and the organization of onsite student team projects.
In the summer of 2010, TAD organized a three-week excursion "Lives(s) on the Mississippi," which explored the lived cultures of the Mississippi Valley past and present and their global impact. A "transregional space", the Mississippi Valley stretches across several distinct geographical and cultural regions of the U.S. (the Midwest, the South). Its rich cultural heritage, which includes literature by Mark Twain and William Faulkner, and popular music by Elvis Presley, has also left its imprint on global culture.
In this presentation, students from Saarland University will present joint projects that they have developed with students from Bradley University and the University of Vienna.
The presentation is kindly sponsored by the Deutsch-Amerikanisches Institut Saarbrücken, the Regionalverband Saarbrücken and the German-Pennsylvanian Friendship Association.
